Mr Seth Rogen

For most of the past month, the internet has been struggling to wrap its hive mind around the concept of Mr Seth Rogen without a beard. (Leaked shots for the upcoming Hulu series Pam & Tommy, in which Mr Rogen purportedly stars, feature… is that Mr Guy Pearce?) Things took another confusing turn with the Canadian comedian’s appearance at the MTV Movie & TV Awards mid-month. Look at the picture above and try not to think of Austin Powers, the shagadelic British spy played by fellow countryman Mr Mike Myers. Go on. It’s impossible. Still, Rogen’s plush velvet suit, in a rich burgundy, teamed with a fuchsia shirt and Chelsea boots, is very much our bag, baby, er, yeah?

Mr Niall Horan

The route out of boy band life is perilous, the road strewn with style disasters, solo-career car crashes and more than a whiff of desperation. Of all the members to emerge from the wreckage of One Direction, Mr Niall Horan is arguably the one set to cruise control. He may not have the runway smarts of Mr Harry Styles or the LA cool of Mr Zayn Malik, but Horan has quietly forged an impressive music career that is both credible and understated. His style is similarly relaxed. This navy cardigan and cream chinos combo, paired with white socks and sneakers, is a perfect example of how he is taking post-boy band life in his stride.

RM

It’s been a good month for fans of BTS, K-pop’s elder statesmen, who have a brand new song out. And if you haven’t heard it yet, you must be living under a rock. The video for “Butter” (no, they haven’t been employed to promote the Korean dairy industry) racked up more than 108 million views on YouTube within 24 hours of being released, making it the biggest premiere in the site’s history. The previous record holder? BTS, of course. We could write a long-form essay on the fabulous fashion in the music video – in fact, perhaps we should – but for now here’s band member RM looking extremely sharp, in an after-work-drinks sort of way, at the pre-release press conference.

The Kid Laroi

Mr Charlton Kennedy Jeffrey Howard, despite sounding like an accountancy firm, is the real name of The Kid Laroi, one of Australia’s buzziest new rappers. After making his Saturday Night Live debut a few weeks ago at the tender age of 17, his fresh brand of emo-pop is proving successful, though it’s his style that has caught our attention. The monochrome cardigan, khaki cargo pants, dark shades and centre-parted blonde hair say Mr Kurt Cobain, but the impossibly clean Converse and diamond chain are more young crypto billionaire. And really, in 2021, why not both?

Mr Jared Leto

Mr Jared Leto’s top half is very much him trying to go about his business undetected. There’s only so much abuse a man can take about his portrayal of the Joker. He has the obligatory face-obscuring shades coupled with a mask he is employing for more than Covid reasons. And the clothes – understated checked shirt, cartoon trucker cap – are clearly what his assistant has told him civilian humans wear. Sorted. Mr Leto’s bottom half, however, tells a different story. Maybe he thought all his appointments were on Zoom. Perhaps he was auditioning for two separate roles in an upcoming film. One thing’s for sure: the Bag For Life, slides and tropical tracksuit bottoms suggest a jaded father reluctantly transporting a surfeit of Pringles, clingfilm-wrapped sandwiches and a bat and ball to the beach for his ungrateful children. And, against all the odds, it works.

Mr Jordan Clarkson

Utah Jazz point guard Mr Jordan Clarkson recently won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award, which recognised him as the best substitute player of the season. It takes a lot of skill to come off the bench and put points on the board and, clearly, those skills spill over into the fashion department. Mr Clarkson has managed to wear checks and stripes without looking like a walking migraine-inducer. He nails it by getting the proportions just right. The signature check of his Burberry shorts is balanced by the small stripes of his shirt, which subtly match the vertical lines on the shorts. He’s smartly kept his look out of clown territory by co-ordinating his mask, Nike sneakers, socks and tote bag in neutral tones, proving that there’s no substitute for a good sense of style.

Mr Antwaun Sargent

If you’ve got a little too comfortable with your lockdown wardrobe, remember that no one is forcing you to go back to the way it was. Exhibit A: the effortless-looking Mr Antwaun Sargent, who was recently appointed a curator and director at the Gagosian gallery (you can read our interview with him here). With echoes of snoozecore – the sleepy, slouchy trend we defined earlier this year – this capacious brown romper is making us feel snug just looking at it. The addition of his trademark beanie and a tonal sweater draped nonchalantly about his shoulders are more than enough to elevate the look.
