Seven Spring Essentials From The New Mr P. Collection

The shift between seasons is a strange time. One minute, the clouds part and there is a glimmer of hope that short sleeves are on the horizon and the next, it’s snowing and we are back to scurrying between appointments with upturned collars and stinging cheeks. This unpredictable weather is a challenge the snappy dresser. It is why we created our in-house brand, Mr P. – to provide stylish, reliable and practical clothes for men who value quality. The answer to bridging the seasons is a wardrobe of light, versatile layers in a pared-back, classic palette. See below for the Mr P. pieces that will make spring dressing a doddle.

What is the first thing you reach for when the weather starts to change? A light jacket. This navy suede number fits the bill perfectly. The trucker shape and contrast stitching are reminiscent of classic jean jacket styles and nod subtly to the western trend that has been all over the spring/summer runways, yet it remains incredibly wearable.

For off-duty evening attire when there’s still a chill in the air, a directional knit is the way to go. This collared button-up cardigan is knitted from ecru wool, so is easy to layer with the clothes you already have in your wardrobe. The ribbed patchwork sections set it apart from your average cardie.

Drawstring trousers are still having a moment. Invest in a smart pair such as these, crafted from a tactile blend of garment-dyed cotton and linen. They do the job of chinos, but look far cooler. They are shrink-proof and will dry quicker than jeans, should you get caught in a spring shower.

A high-quality Oxford shirt in white or cool blue should never be missing from your wardrobe, whatever the season. This classic example is cut from heavy-duty cotton for a structured finish. Dress up with tailoring or team with a varsity jacket and jeans for the weekend.

Another staple that effortlessly bridges the gap between winter and spring, casual and smart is the suede desert boot. Mr P.’s Jacques style is crafted from soft but durable Eco Buck suede and has sturdy Eco Lite Vibram soles, which are robust yet lightweight.

You may have picked up on a trend in this spring edit – suede. It is ideal for this time of year because it is warmth yet lightweight. This sage-green coach jacket has a sporty edge, while the camp collar gives it the feel of an overshirt feel. Just right for now.

Part of Mr P.’s collaboration with the London eyewear expert Cubitts, these Judd sunglasses take their cue from 1960s styles. The thick acetate frames suit all face shapes and the smoky lenses, set off by minimal silver detailing, offer 100 per cent UV protection.
