Who wore it best at the watch brand’s Social Lab event in San Francisco.

Last night in celebrated the relaunch of its Santos de Cartier watch (which, incidentally, ) with a momumentally star-studded event at a dedicated space on Pier 48. During the day, this had been the site for the Social Lab, a new initiative from the brand in which creatives including Apple Music’s Mr Larry Jackson, actor  and architect Mr Ma Yansong gathered to discuss topics inspired by the fearless of Santos de Cartier’s inspiration, the aviation pionner Mr Alberto Santos-Dumont. As night fell though, it turned into a giant music venue, in which acts including Hot Chip, Phoenix and Jamie xx serenading guests (when they could drag themselves away from the very photogenic light tunnel at the entrance). The dress code, of course, was “bold and fearless”. Who, in our humble opinion, nailed it? Scroll down to find out.

Yes, it’s easy to go for bells and whistles when dressing for the evening, but we liked the clean simplicity of French-Canadian actor Mr Niels Schneider’s slim-cut grey , which he wore with a Santos de Cartier in  with a tan calfskin strap. By toning it down, he stood out (and not just because he positioned himself in front of this rather eye-catching LED wall).

02. Mr Yoo Ah-in

We will admit that, not being terribly up-to-date with Korean language television programmes, we haven’t seen Mr Yoo Ah-in’s latest series, Chicago Typewriter. But that doesn’t stop us appreciating this outfit, a 1950s-tinged ensemble – the  is a particularly nice touch, particularly given how the yellow stripes echo the gold accents on his two-tone steel and gold Santos de Cartier.

The film director and , alongside wife Ms Maha Gorton, presented the most dazzling eveningwear spectacle of the night in the form of this rather snazzy silk . Wisely keeping the rest of his outfit monochrome (always a good idea when working with a busy print), he added a little bit of a sporty edge to it all by opting for a steel bracelet in his Santos de Cartier watch.
