Fathers And Sons: Episode 03

13 July 2016

The dating game has changed since James, 52, last rolled the dice. Can son Jack teach his old man new tricks?.

Episode 03: The Date

How does a resolutely analogue man tackle the challenge of looking for love in the digital age – particularly when he thinks that “Tinder” is something you make a fire with, and “swiping right” is something that Mr Muhammad Ali did to Mr George Foreman during the Rumble in the Jungle in 1974?

In the third episode of Fathers And Sons, 52-year-old James, a fine-art and antiques dealer, enlists the help of his son Jack to help him try and make sense of a 21st-century dating scene, where emojis seem to count for more than emotions. But, while James is mocked for his “18th-century phone” and Jack is condemned for his generation’s cavalier attitude to relationships, the pair eventually discover that, when it comes to wooing and winning-over, things might not have changed so radically after all.
