What To Give (And Get) This Eid
Words by The MR PORTER Team
14 April 2023

The holy month of Ramadan will soon be drawing to a close, which means Eid is approaching. After 30 days of fasting, reflecting, prayer and good works, we look forward to the festivity that Eid brings with it. And any festivity wouldn’t be the same if there weren’t a few gifts mixed in. Sure, it’s traditional to give money, but we like to get a little creative in these instances and chances are, if you’re reading this story, you do, too. Below our top five picks for Eid al-Fitr gifts this year.

01.
The Cartier Ballon Bleu watch
This 40mm automatic stainless-steel timepiece is about as classic as watches get. The timeless blue dial, steel link bracelet and sapphire glass crown make this an ideal gift for someone in your life who deserves a treat this holy month but is generally low-key with his sartorial choices. The Ballon Blue de Cartier, after all, might just be the definition of quiet luxury.

02.
The Bellerby & Co Globemakers desk globe
Bellerby & Co Globemakers has been crafting beautiful globes ever since its founder went on a fruitless search for the perfect gift for his 80-year-old father. Each one is meticulously handmade in the brand’s London studio – this one from multi-coloured papered resin, which sits on an American walnut base. It’s an ultra-special desktop objet for the world travellers and adventurers in your sphere.

03.
The Brunello Cucinelli leather suitcase
This luscious leather duffel bag has a hidden telescopic handle for breezy airport transfers or jogs through the train station. Protective metal feet will keep this weekender in good shape as it develops a gorgeous patina on its camel leather over time. This is a handy gift for over-packers, thanks to the plethora of internal and external zipped pockets.

04.
The GioBagnara chess set
If you’re going all out on a present, you might as well choose one that is destined to become an heirloom. This suede-trimmed travertine chess set by GioBagnara is just such a gift. Even if the person who is receiving this gift isn’t exactly a chess champ, this Italian-made set is so good-looking it works simply as a display piece. However, we challenge anyone to resist trying their hand at this minimal yet luxurious game of strategy.

05.
The Jacques Marie Mage sunglasses
Designed in collaboration with menswear cool kid Mr Umit Benan, these tortoiseshell-style acetate D-frames will be a good fit for any face shape. Engraved gold-tone temples (or arms, as they’re more colloquially known) add a bit of flair to these otherwise classic-retro shape. For the man who spends a lot of time in the sun – or needs to escape the glare of paparazzi – these are the perfect gift.
