Mr Toby Huntington-Whiteley opts for timeless style with Coach’s latest collection.
“Most of the time I am in gym kit,” says Mr Toby Huntington-Whiteley. This hardly comes as a surprise – the personal trainer currently splits his time between London’s Workshop Gymnasium, where he coaches private clients, and KOBOX, where he teaches high-intensity boxing classes. In his downtime, however (during which, we presume, he has to do a lot of stretching), he prefers to wear clothes of the “classic and timeless” variety, both of which qualities are exemplified here by outfits from Coach. The shearling jacket, in particular, is an investment piece that will see you through many a winter, combining classic shearling details with a more contemporary, bomber-like feel. Wear it, as Mr Huntington-Whiteley does here, with a graphic T-shirt – and consider your winter wardrobe well and truly wrapped up.

As far as prints go, camouflage is among the most classic in the male wardrobe, coming back time and again in many varieties. We particularly like this Coach adaptation of the Wild Beast T-shirt from the AW16 collection, which provides a perfect way to add a dash of style to your jersey basics.

Of all the pieces Mr Huntington-Whiteley took for a spin, the peacoat, he says, was his favourite. And it’s easy to see why. The name alone – Coach calls it a “Captain’s Coat” – is enough to lift the spirits, but it’s also packed full of pleasing sartorial details. Rendered in thick, sturdy felted melton and embellished with bright brass anchor buttons, it opens to reveal a camel-coloured lining, which raises it above your average peacoat, looks-wise, and offers prodigious warmth, thanks to its knee-length hemline.

Accessories-wise, we suggest matching the coat, which is rather substantial, with the crossbody “Gotham” bag, which is rather light and nifty. Halfway between a briefcase and messenger bag, it is the ideal size to store everything you need for an afternoon in the city. What’s more, its glove-tanned leather is designed to get better with age, so there’s no need to be too precious about it.
