In the mid '60s, Bottega Veneta's sewing machines were better suited to garments than leather – co-founders Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro had to find a solution. Using fettucce, a technique local to the Veneto region, they decided to weave together thin strips of leather, creating intrecciato as we know it. It's seen in this compact messenger bag, made from soft hide and designed with space for a notebook, paperback and sunglasses.
