From Derbies to boots and sneakers, our new range has all the essential styles you need this season.

Time flies, doesn’t it? It’s hard for the team at MR PORTER to believe that we’re launching our fifth Mr P. collection today, but we hope you’ll agree, practice really has made perfect in this case. The idea behind our in-house line is a simple one: reliable, reworked classics designed to be worn day in, day out (and available year in, year out), alongside timely seasonal drops of standout pieces that will be guaranteed to give your wardrobe a bit of a refresh. In this latest, utility-inspired installment, you’ll find plenty of tactile knitwear, sturdy cargo trousers and military-inspired outerwear. In short, practical pieces that’ll see you soundly through autumn, winter and beyond in considerable style.

But clothing isn’t the only part of the wardrobe equation we’re concerned with – after all, we’ve always envisaged Mr P. as a full-service brand. Not ones to rest on our laurels, this time around the collection also includes our first foray into footwear. And, as with our quest to create the perfect white T-shirt, denim jeans and Oxford shirt, it’s not a task we’ve taken on lightly. No, in fact we’ve scouted out the best materials and suppliers – specifically a small, family-run workshop in Italy – and have worked hard to get each design just right. As well as all the essential day-to-day shoes that firmly belong in every man’s wardrobe – think loafersDerbies and sneakers – we’ll also be debuting singular seasonal designs such as this September’s hiking boots.

As with seasons gone by, the images below offer a loose guide on how to wear the collection – it’s up to you which pieces work best with what, and we want to see your suggestions via the #MrPmyway hashtag on our dedicated Mr P. Instagram feed, @mrp.

Loafers

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it; by and large, the classics don’t require radical reinterpretation – their appeal lies in their enduring simplicity. So, while we knew that no collection would be complete without penny loafers, we didn’t feel the need to tamper with the basic template in creating our own for Mr P. Instead, the team focused on getting the fit and construction spot on. Our Dennis pair – which come in black vegetable-tanned leather as well as espresso calf suede – are Blake stitched so the soles feel flexible but still durable enough for daily wear. And when it comes to said wearing, anything goes, really – dress them up for work and down on the weekend.

Sneakers

Sure, so-called “ugly” sneakers might be having a moment, but they’re not exactly what you’d call versatile. For everyday use, you need something less show-stopping and more, well, simple. That’s where this white-leather Larry pair come in. Clean-lined and classic, they’re the kind of kicks you can wear almost anywhere, even the office. Speaking of which, we’ve also made them in suede – which, as you can see, works particularly well with an unstructured suit.

Derbies

Leather lace-ups are generally considered to lie on the smarter side of the shoe spectrum. But the Derbies in the debut Mr P. footwear collection more than hint at this particular silhouette’s country beginnings. The Jacques, in particular, is a lot chunkier than average, with thick lug soles and a durable welt. But don’t think that means you can’t smarten them up with the right trousers and a blazer. Of course, if you’ve got a wedding or party coming up, we’ve got you covered, too – you’ll find the Lucien is sleeker, but almost as sturdy as the more commando styles.

Boots

Since functionality is always the focus of each Mr P. collection, you won’t be surprised to see boots of all shapes and sizes in our footwear launch this September. Whether in suede or water-repellant leather, they’ve each got one thing in common: sturdiness. The shearling-lined Jacques and lace-up Lucien pairs are our pick for the weekend, while the pebble-grain brogues should be just about wearable in a work environment. Wherever you decide to wear them, though, make sure that some appropriately thick winter socks from the line are on your Wish List, too.
