In an ideal world, we’d all have enough time before a night out to be gently massaged like a Wagyu cow, enjoy a Turkish bath and sip a drink while leisurely shaving. But we live in the 21st century where the sound of the iCal alert is never far away. Invariably we’re rushing out for the evening straight from our place of work and need to get ready in five minutes or less.

This means that for many of us, the top drawer of our desk needs to double-up as a bathroom cabinet. Alongside the stapler and Post-it notes, we might have a toothbrush, hair wax and some aftershave. Plus we may also want some useful accessories close to hand – a pocket square, a cardholder, a silk scarf – to help turn our look and our mindset from day to night.

We invited six men of note who often have to attend post-work events, to pull out the drawer of their desk and show us what they keep inside. The group comprises an editorial director in Beijing; a photographer in Toronto; the founder of an international men’s style magazine in Singapore; a fashion designer in London; a model in New York; and an entrepreneur in LA.
