The annual release of the LOEWE Paula’s Ibiza collection is fast becoming one of our favourite things about summer, an event we look forward to almost as much as Wimbledon or that first pitcher of Pimm’s. What started in 2017 as a left-field collaboration between the Spanish fashion powerhouse and a little-known, hippie-era boutique has since blossomed into one of the fashion industry’s biggest success stories, a brand-within-a-brand that is still going strong as it enters its sixth season.

It’s an escapist fantasy of island life that marries the laid-back-yet-luxurious sensibility of LOEWE with the bohemian spirit of the Balearics in the 1970s. But Paula’s Ibiza is also a great entry point into the wider world of LOEWE, offering a casual, holiday-focused interpretation of longtime creative director Mr Jonathan Anderson’s vision for the brand. And when we say holiday-focused, we really do mean it. With everything from breezy denim overshirts to woven-raffia tote bags and retro-inspired sunglasses featuring in the collection, LOEWE Paula’s Ibiza is a ready-made travel wardrobe that’ll set you up nicely for your next summer adventure.

01.

The denim overshirt

Cut for a breezy, kaftan-like fit, this denim overshirt is an ideal cover-up for long summer days at the beach. Alternatively, throw it on with the brand’s pleated trousers (below) and go exploring the markets on your next city break. It’s finished with a leather Anagram patch – a LOEWE brand signature – and a frayed hem adding to that undone bohemian look.

02.

The straight-leg pleated trousers

It may sound counterintuitive, but what you really need in a good pair of summer trousers is more fabric, not less. These pleated trousers prove the point. Amply tailored for a roomy fit, the pleats provide structure around the thigh while also ensuring proper airflow – a must in sticky conditions.

03.

The cutout leather and canvas pouch

LOEWE’s most identifiable brand signature, the Anagram logo, is shown off in all its glory with this cleverly designed bag. A cotton-canvas drawstring pouch held within a cutout leather framework, it’s a neat way of repping the LOEWE brand and an ideal accessory for toting your travel essentials.

04.

The logo-embroidered raffia tote

LOEWE is best-known for its handsome leather accessories – it began life as a collective of leather craftsmen in Madrid in 1846. But the Paula’s Ibiza collection is an opportunity for the brand to focus on other natural materials, such as the woven raffia seen on this smart, beach-ready tote bag.

05.

The cotton-canvas bucket hat

Bucket hats – the unofficial headgear of the man at leisure – look set to remain popular this year. But how to ensure that you stand out from the crowd at your next summer festival? With its logo-embossed leather patch and logo-print adjustable strap, this bucket hat from LOEWE’s latest Paula’s Ibiza collection is sure to get the job done.

06.

The linen, cotton and wool-blend cardigan

Fish are everywhere in the latest LOEWE summer collection – take a look at these MR PORTER-exclusive silk shorts for further proof – and they’ve made it into the Paula’s Ibiza collection, too. This loose-weave cardigan, knitted from a linen, cotton and wool blend, is the perfect thing to have on hand when warm summer days segue into cool evenings.

07.

The logo tank top

After seeing the success of its initial collaboration, LOEWE acquired the Paula’s Ibiza trademarks and archives in 2019. It gave the brand access to a library of charmingly retro prints and graphics from the boutique’s 1970s and 1980s heyday, such as the one seen on this white cotton tank top.
