Check out the collection from the British brand of the iconic, um, check – plus how to wear our pick of the capsule.

Fantastic news: hot on the heels of its third see-now-buy-now show in  a month ago, the quintessentially British brand  is launching an exclusive capsule collection with MR PORTER. And it’s landing today. The 10-piece collection, which develops themes from the runway show, features a charming roster of contemporary styles that were inspired by “a clash of different clans and a mix of different tribes”, with a particular focus (this is Britain, after all) on .

One of Burberry’s biggest strengths is its perennial wearability, which means you can style it in any which way you please and it will still look splendid. Still, that doesn’t mean we can resist giving you a few pointers. After all, sometimes the best thing to wear with Burberry is, of course, more Burberry. Scroll on for some unsolicited (but well-meaning) style advice on some of our favourite pieces from the collection.

THE GABARDINE TRENCH

Lined with Burberry’s iconic , this classic gabardine-cotton trench is a veritable paragon of a coat that you can safely slot into your wardrobe, wear for decades, and pass down to your future grandkids. Timeless though it is, that’s no excuse not to add a pop of modernity elsewhere in your outfit – wear it over this striking cobalt Aran from the capsule collection for a splash of colour and texture.

THE TARTAN CAR COAT

Sometimes, winter is grey enough – surely it’s up to the stylish men of the world to bring some much-needed  into it? Do so with a modicum of elegance by opting for this classic wool car coat, which has been aesthetically reimagined in  fabric especially for MR PORTER. Wear with a pair of cropped  sourced directly from the runway show.

THE SHEARLING JACKET

While we’d generally advise you against dressing like a teddy bear, we have to concur that this sumptuous  may just have convinced us otherwise. Made in Italy and finished with shiny horn buttons, Paddington Bear this most certainly isn’t. Wear it with one of the capsule’s other standout pieces – a chunky rib and cable-knit sweater in cashmere-wool blend.
