Introducing: The Brand That Specialises In Linen

Our favourite pieces from 120%, the Italian brand new to MR PORTER.

Linen is the oldest known textile, but it continues to be present in the minds of contemporary designers. Naturally cool and moisture-wicking, it is light, airy and therefore the ideal fabric for summer, which, we promise, is nearly here. Based in Bologna and founded in 1980, 120%, which landed on MR PORTER this week, specialises in the fabric. It creates timeless, holiday-appropriate pieces, and the unique dyeing process it employs means no two garments are the same. From linen T-shirts to trousers, we’ve selected a few of our favourite pieces from the brand below, plus some things to wear them with.

When we think about linen, T-shirts are admittedly not the first thing to spring to mind. Shirts and blazers are more commonly associated with the fabric. But we think that’s an oversight, especially after seeing this navy crew neck from 120%. The soft fabric won’t cling to your skin should you start to perspire, and it will keep you cool in warm weather. The colour will go with just about anything, but we think it will go particularly well with these side-striped shorts from President’s, which are also made in Italy.

linen shirt is a holiday staple that no man should be without, and is a fool-proof way to look – and feel – smart in the sun. Complement the warm pink of this one by layering it over a T-shirt in a neutral shade, such as this Breton-striped crew neck from Margaret Howell.

As far as summery outfits go, you’ll have a tough time topping this combination. The camp-collared floral shirt from Engineered Garments is practically tailormade for a holiday, and the print looks particularly vacation-ready next to this pair of white linen trousers by 120%. Just remember to exercise caution when you’re within splashing distance of oil or red wine. But if you’re confident enough to pull this outfit off, it’s well worth the risk.
