AMI PARIS has been around for just 12 years, but the label already feels like an intrinsic part of the Parisian fashion landscape. Founded by Mr Alexandre Mattiussi, the label is shaped by its home city, taking the classic tropes of Paris – elegant, chic – and reworking them into wearable, everyday staples. Classic pieces are updated, often having a comfortable and understated feel that works as a uniform for anyone, anywhere.
Ever since Mattiussi established his label, AMI PARIS has become known for the way it mixes casual with formal, refined with relaxed. The result is a complete wardrobe for any occasion, made up of high-quality materials, perfect volumes, hits of colour and, of course, that heart logo.
For its SS24 collection, AMI PARIS has continued to refine this process. There are influences of 1990s minimalism on the collection’s silhouettes, with pronounced shoulders and fluid lines, and a colour palette that reflects the warmer months – all natural colours and soft pastels alongside brighter, bolder touches. There’s also a delicate experimentation with volumes and textures. Casual pieces are cut from fabrics that are typically used for tailoring, while other items are less structured, following the natural form and movement of the body.
We’ve picked out our highlights from the SS24 collection, and put together three looks to help you to style them, below.
01. Update the classics
One of the best examples of AMI PARIS’ approach might just be the way that it remixes classic pieces. Everyday items, such as this trench coat, are given a new lease of life through the label’s relaxed approach.
These kind of wardrobe workhorses can be combined with other everyday essentials, such as a plain white T-shirt or a pair of black leather Derby shoes, meaning that you can keep the focus on one key piece. A pair of bold, statement trousers you already own, for instance, or something from the same SS24 collection.
02. Take it up a notch
A standout feature of AMI PARIS’ collection is the colour palette, and the soft, muted tones that the label has become known for. This season’s highlight is a dusty green, which is used throughout the lineup and appears on a selection of tailoring pieces. This double-breasted blazer, for example, shows how dusty pastels can be used on more formal items, helping to relax the otherwise traditional, structured designs.
The double-breasted blazer is cut from a wool and viscose twill and finished with horn buttons that partner perfectly with the nature-inspired green. Here, we’ve styled it over a knitted crew neck and a pair of off-white, cigarette-fit trousers to strike the balance between smart and casual typical of AMI PARIS, but it’ll look just as good with tailored trousers if you’re kicking things up a notch.
03. Keep it casual
A staple of any and all AMI PARIS collections is the Ami de Coeur emblem, which is used across knitwear, shirts, accessories and sweats. The love heart logo speaks to the romance at the heart of the label and its Parisian roots. It’s the kind of design signature you might see often, emblazoned across some of the brand’s best-selling pieces, but that still feels fresh and contemporary.
For SS24, the Ami de Coeur returns on a whole range of items, including some boxy-fit, heavy-gauge knitwear, as is the case with this dropped-shoulder, mid-weight sweater. We recommend leaning into comfort and pairing it with a pair of classic wool crepe trousers in a similarly tonal colourway.
