THE JOURNAL

MR PORTER’s top picks to help you style the season’s freshest shades.
With all the excitement surrounding Valentine’s Day, we thought it would be nice to step back from the pinks, the reds and the “most romantic” outfits, to bring you something a little more accessible for wearing on a day-to-day basis. So today, we have scoured the depths of MR PORTER’s new arrivals to bring you our favourite spring green pieces. “Why green?” you might ask. Well, with so many different variations to choose from, we’re confident when we say you’re sure to find a shade that suits you among the below items. Plus, with spring rapidly approaching, the MR PORTER team are getting increasingly excited about the prospect of not being confined to the sofa, binge-watching another Netflix TV series due to the adverse weather conditions – and what’s more outdoorsy than good old green?

THE T-SHIRT
Contrary to the popular saying, blue and green can, in fact, most definitely be seen – especially when pairing Ralph Lauren Purple Label’s classic T-shirt with Wooyoungmi’s navy blue bomber jacket. We’re particularly keen on the sage shade of this particular tee, as it’s a muted and rather subtle foray into the whole green thing, if you’re feeling timid.
THE SWEATER
Everyone loves a good cosy knit for winter, but, come spring, there’s no need to throw the baby out with the bath water, so to speak. Yes, now is the time to start looking at the kind of lightweight knitwear that will come in handy for balmy evenings when the weather is a little more forgiving. Such as this fine military-inspired example from Valentino. Play up the bohemian, army surplus feel with a pair of frayed-hem jeans from Stella McCartney’s inaugural menswear collection, a recent arrival to MR PORTER.
THE JACKET
Spring is charming – lovely daffodils and all that – but it’s also unpredictable. You can never be 100 per cent sure what the weather will decide to do. As such, it is important to have options. Moncler’s Triomphe shirt-jacket is perfect for this approach, as it is both lightweight and water-repellant. Pack it in your weekend-away bag with this appealing cap (chief merit: it’s got a polar bear on it) from Ebbets Field Flannels, to complete that rare thing: a utility-inspired look that is actually… well… useful.
