Yeni Lokanta - Men's Style Council Place

Squirreled away down a tiny street in Beyoğlu, this little gem is a solid choice for date night in the capital. The atmosphere is intimate, without being try-hard, and soft jazz provides a seductive soundtrack. Ask for a local wine recommendation, then turn your attention to the contemporary Turkish menu. We’d recommend the grilled octopus, quince and celeriac, and braised lamb shank – and a special shout-out to Yeni’s house-churned butter, which tastes divine smeared over fresh bread.

This is one of those places you really want to keep to yourself, but it’s too good not to share. Yeni Lokanta is a nod to tradition with timely twist and like many places in Istanbul, it’s hidden in a small side street. Once you get inside, tread lightly with the delicious homemade sourdough bread with smoked butter and the delectable cocktails and treat yourself to the tasting menu for a journey through Anatolia. If you catch chef and owner Evan Cir front of house, give him a high five!
