The Nagi Suite has the best views of the bay.
It was only a matter of time before the understated glamour of Aman Resorts became entwined with the pared-back minimalism of post-luxury Japan. And so this modern take on the traditional onsen hot-spring spa is every bit as inviting as you would expect. Balanced on the forested hill of Ise-Shima National Park – peering over the islands of Ago Bay, which stretch out like a string of the pearls this inlet is famed for – Amanemu is a haiku of stone, bamboo and vast expanses of glass. Take it all in from the infinity pool, or plunge into your own deep basalt bath (big enough for two), with a tap that comes directly from the spring. The restaurant – in keeping with the restraint, simply called Restaurant – is impressive and the complex boasts as many as six members of staff per guest.
