Mandolin Aegean Bistro in Miami is a favourite and the kefte are a must – they’re juicy and flavoured just so. And best, they remind me of having lunch on the Mediterranean.
“Aegean Bistro”, runs the tagline of this dinky little restaurant in the Design District, which channels perfectly the sunwashed tavernas of Greece and Turkey. Inside there aren’t many covers – it’s cosy rather than cramped – but the leafy terrace is a more apt place to sit anyway. Settle in for such classics as warm pide bread, calamari, grilled octopus with lemon and olive oil, the finest Kalamata olives and a peerless Greek salad.
