Slalom season is in full swing and with it, the age-old dilemma of what to pack for a ski holiday. You want to be ready to take on the slopes in style, of course, but you want to look and feel just as dapper at the après-ski. The needs? Water-repellent, insulating fabrics, roomy silhouettes and all those often overlooked yet practical details like gaiters, air vents, drawstrings and hidden pockets.

Navigating the sartorial conundrums of a snow getaway is not for everyone, so we’ve done the groundwork and picked five snow must-haves that’ll get you to the slopes in true MR PORTER fashion. Just read on.

01.

The minimal KASK helmet

A helmet is one of the first things you should think about when taking on the slopes. You can’t go wrong with this one by KASK – it’s lined with breathable and temperature-regulating Soft Wind padding and is equipped with the brand’s signature Fit-System technology, which mimics your head shape for a precise, close fit.

02.

The Moncler Grenoble leather gloves

Investing in a good pair of gloves is paramount when temperatures hover around zero. Don’t mind if we suggest Moncler Grenoble’s leather pair – the Gore-Tex exteriors will keep your hands dry and toasty, while the drawstring cuffs will prevent snow from getting in.

03.

The Houdini hooded jacket

The key to nailing high-altitude style is mastering the art of layering, and Houdini’s hooded jacket will help you do just that. It has an internal elasticated gaiter to keep out the snow and plenty of concealed pockets to store your ski pass and essentials.

04.

The Kjus reinforced salopettes

Kjussalopettes have been designed in collaboration with legendary ski racer Mr Ted Ligety, so they’re sure to do the trick when you’re hitting the red runs. The reinforced knees ensure extra fabric longevity and added comfort in case of any accidental falls.

05.

The Aztech Mountain knitted mid-layer

Have an après-ski on the cards? Thanks to its weighty cashmere and silk blend, Aztech Mountain’s rollneck works just as well on piste beneath a jacket as it does at the chalet. The relaxed silhouette means it’ll fit comfortably over a base layer, too.
