THE JOURNAL

Get from A to B smoothly with this crease-free travel suit from Paul Smith London .
Traversing London in a taxi, be it in a black cab or otherwise, can often feel like being driven around in a very expensive fairground dodgem. The journey can be fraught with heavy traffic, kamikaze cyclists and “creative” drivers who want to quiz you on your knowledge of the transfer window deadline while you’d rather they just concentrated on “the knowledge” needed to get you to your destination. If you happen to be wearing a suit throughout the whole experience, don’t count on stepping out of the cab looking the same as when you stepped in.

The Paul Smith Londonsuit comes with the brand’sidiosyncratic finishing touches
At least that used to be the case before Paul Smith London’s suit saviour “A Suit To Travel In”. That’s thanks to the breathable, high-twist woollen fibres, which allow the suit to spring back to its original smooth shape. No matter if you’re stood in the rain waiting for your Uber, being blasted by car heating, or bashed around on London’s winding roads, the travel suit will just shrug it all off.

But that’s only half the story. What use is a travel suit if it’s not consummately stylish? Paul Smith London’s version is cut to a slim “Mayfair” silhouette that fits narrower through the chest and is tapered in the legs. The jacket is also “half-canvassed”, which lends the suit structure through the chest and shoulders while still allowing for plenty of freedom of movement.
As ever, the suit comes with the brand’s idiosyncratic finishing touches, such as horn buttons, a split melton collar with contrasting panels and a bold lining. And while the weather changes with the seasons, its cloth stays the same due to the excellent temperature-regulating properties of the high-twist yarn, meaning you can wear it year round with confidence.
