THE JOURNAL

Picture yourself in Porto Cervo, Sardinia this summer. That’s where MR PORTER decamped to, hosting a two-day experience with the luxury Italian house Zegna. A clutch of guests – including the actors Mads Mikkelsen, Douglas Booth and Tosin Cole, designer Marta Ferri and writer Ben Cobb, as well as EIP clients – joined our team to immerse themselves in the culture of this spectacular setting.
Toby Bateman, MR PORTER’s CEO, welcomed visitors from the US, Europe and across Asia to take part in the Mediterranean escape. The itinerary included a two-night stay at Romazzino, a Belmond Hotel, a tour of the Maddalena Islands on a five-star yacht and an intimate dinner, crafted from local produce by a Michelin-starred chef, under starlight.
For Zegna, the location had real meaning. Much like Oasi Zegna, the brand’s idyllic reserve in Northern Italy, Porto Cervo was built around – and to showcase – the natural environment. It is also no accident that the architecture of both puts the human at its centre. The architect and town planner Luigi Vietti worked on landmark projects on the Costa Smeralda and in Oasi Zegna, creating a bridge between the two.
Of course, we couldn’t all be there. For those who missed out, claim a piece of the Italian summer for yourself with Zegna. Established in 1910, the family-run label has built a thoroughly modern collection on its heritage as a world-leading producer of fine fabrics. Its timeless pieces will see you through this season – and many more to come.
