Holiday dressing with Mr Jenson Button.
After a 16-year career as a top-flight racing driver, Mr Jenson Button is accustomed to the glitz and glamour of the race track. But the former World Champion’s feet are firmly on the ground when it comes to style. “Quite a few of the races are really glamorous,” says the McLaren-Honda driver. “Monaco is the obvious standout and Singapore is pretty spectacular, too. But then you go to other races in places like Austin and Australia and you see different styles, which can be really interesting. Some locations are more relaxed than others.”

I like the rugged look Steve McQueen was renowned for, but he could also dress it up and look smart
Between races, Mr Button’s own holiday wardrobe is practical and sophisticated, pulling together some of the trademarks of luxe American label Michael Kors’ AW16 collection – sleek separates that work well in combination. A lightweight wool-blend sweater is a practical choice for off-duty adventuring, its striped palette of grey, charcoal and burgundy blocks is smart yet understated, while its finely knitted construction has a regular cut that’s easy to wear.

When it comes to fashion, Mr Button cites Mr Steve McQueen as an icon. “I’m a big fan of him and his love of motor racing, although that’s not the only reason why I’m into his style,” he says. “I like the rugged look he was renowned for, but he could also dress it up and look smart. I try to do things my own way, but you’ll always be affected by seeing what other people are wearing and he was right up there for me.”
In keeping with Mr McQueen’s own timeless wardrobe, Mr Button opts for a pair of sturdy boots and Michael Kors’ classic, sand-coloured chinos to complete the look. Elegant yet hard-wearing, these smooth stretch-cotton trousers come in a comfortable, slim fit, allowing Mr Button to cover as much ground on foot as he does on the race track.
