The dishes change regularly, and the farm-to-table modern Mexican cuisine makes Gitano the best place to eat, drink and dance in Tulum.
This garden restaurant and bar on Tulum’s boho-chic strip, just set back from the white-sand beach, is magical come sundown, when it’s lit with thousands of fairy lights and candles. The tables are always full, so either book ahead or go early and try your luck. You may just have to wait at the mezcal bar with a cocktail. We recommend the Jungle Fever (mezcal, chilli, lime and coriander). The best dinner comes by way of the small plates, such as tuna tostadas, grilled avocado with ponzu, grouper ceviche and smoked sweet potato with cacao and cinnamon.
