When Ulysse Nardin first came up with the concept of doing away with a watch's hands and dial - and instead using the movement itself to tell the time as it rotates - then-CEO Rolf Schnyder took one look at the prototype and insisted it had to be called the 'Freak'. This 'Freak X' version adds a crown for more orthodox operation but remains true to the principle of letting the gear train and escapement serve as the hands. Powered by the UN-230 automatic movement with a silicon balance wheel, it has a lightweight titanium case with black DLC coating and an exhibition case back where you can admire the rest of the movement.
