Born in Chicago, acclaimed artist Mr Rashid Johnson received his BA in photography from Chicago’s Columbia College. In 2005, he then went on to study for his MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Mr Johnson’s recent solo exhibitions include Stranger at Hauser & Wirth Somerset and Hail We Now Sing Joy at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City in 2017, as well as Fly Away at Hauser & Wirth New York and Within Our Gates at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow in 2016. Mr Johnson has also had solo shows in Winterthur, Athens, Denver, Zurich, Marfa and London, as well as the major touring exhibition Message to Our Folks which opened at Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art in 2012.
