This Just In: New-Season Corduroy

10 September 2018

Get into the groove with tufted cords for September.

If there is one fabric we might associate most with autumn, it is probably corduroy. Although thick cotton, wool and shell are all inclement weather appropriate, they are not exclusive to the colder seasons. Corduroy, somehow, is. You don’t hear about corduroy swim shorts. You would not consider a corduroy suit for a summer wedding. And you wouldn’t pack a corduroy shirt for a holiday somewhere warm. Corduroy, which usually comes in warmer colours such as brown, burgundy and camel, speaks of leaf-strewn walks in the park, pints by the pub fire and the wardrobes of Messrs Jarvis Cocker and Wes Anderson – bookish, rakish style icons who wear the fabric particularly well. Corduroy produces thick, tactile clothing full of character and substance. And, well, if you’re dreading the colder weather that’s on its way – you might find consolation in the fact that you can welcome corduroy clothes back into your wardrobe.

Today, we have various corduroy pieces landing on site that could form the start of your new-season collection. Below, we have picked out our favourites. Shop these, or, alternatively, shop all corduroy items on MR PORTER here. For the rest of What’s New, click here.
