AFFIX: The New Design Collective You Need To Know

A new collection of utilitarian streetwear lands on site.

Design collectives are producing some of the most interesting and pace-setting clothes around. They are also veritable incubators or launchpads for talent. Take , which was founded by brothers Messrs Demna and Guram Gvasalia along with five other creatives, and catapulted the former to head designer at . Streetwear label Been Trill was the brainchild of Messrs Virgil Abloh, Heron Preston and Matthew Williams. Mr Abloh is now head of menswear at Louis Vuitton, Mr Preston runs a well-executed eponymous label and Mr Williams has started , the buzzy streetwear brand that most recently collaborated with Dior. Other notable examples include  and . All have produced incredible clothes and, in many cases, know what’s cool before the big brands do. Hey, that’s why they hire them.

This brings us to , one of the freshest design collectives on the scene at the moment. Headed up by a quadrumvirate of pace-setters who all have London in their DNA, it’s only been around since the start of the year but has already made waves in the streetwear sphere. It was founded by stylist and creative consultant Mr Stephen Mann, streetwear luminary Mr Michael Kopelman, the man responsible for bringing  to the UK, and menswear designers slash Central Saint Martins graduates Messrs Kiko Kostadinov and Taro Ray, all of whom have brought their comprehensive knowledge of street culture and fashion design together to create one of London’s most exciting new brands.

Focusing on utilitarian streetwear that is heavy on logos and pockets, AFFIX launches on MR PORTER today. From  in unexpected fabrics such as cotton-velvet (it works) to matching  and  with flap pockets in a service twill, AFFIX combines workwear and streetwear in a way that captures what men want to wear: clothes that are streetwise and comfortable, no compromise.
