The lightweight footwear that’s suitable for any occasion this summer.

Summertime, and the living is easy. Well, it is when you’ve got your footwear sorted. There is nothing worse than confining your feet to an insulating pair of tough Oxfords or chunky sneakers when the sun’s out.

Summer is a great time to play around with texture and colour, and your shoes should be no exception. To illustrate this – and to help you select some footwear for the coming months – we’ve compiled a range of warm-weather-appropriate shoes that are new on site.

There are some woven-leather sandals from Americana brand Yuketen that are comfortable and stylish, like little wicker baskets for your feet. Think of them as a combination of a smart shoe and a beachy sandal.

If espadrilles are more your speed for summer, try a subtly pink linen pair from Mulo. They’re soft, breathable and have a tough rubber sole, which means they will stand firm whether you’re by the pool or going for drinks. Wear them without socks with a pair of tailored shorts or trousers.

For shoes that are summery yet smart enough for the office (dress code permitting), try a pair of slip-ons. Tod’s powder-blue suede pair has the brand’s trademark rubber sole. Tod’s founder Mr Diego Della Valle was inspired to swap leather soles for rubber ones after he spotted a cab driver in New York in the 1970s wearing a pair of loafers for driving. The brown leather slip-ons, or backless loafers, if you fancy, are made by Italian brand Berluti from kangaroo leather. Sophisticated to be sure, but the open design makes them extra cool when paired with a summer suit.

At the more casual end of the spectrum is a fine pair of Vans, rendered in pink suede for a summery twist on the classic style. Or, if you’ve cracked onto the trend for slides (as seen on practically every famous person under the age of 30 over the past year), the bright yellow ones from Raf Simons will add some neon charm to a chilled-out outfit.
