THE JOURNAL

Mr Hedi Slimane’s collections for CELINE HOMME have always reflected certain rebellious youth subcultures and communities. If the e-boys, skaters and TikTokers of SS21 captured the zeitgeist of a global pandemic and his Renaissance-inspired Teen Knights from AW21 provided some much needed escapism, his latest line-up feels like the most celebratory yet.
As the world prepares to open up again post-pandemic, Slimane’s SS22 collection, entitled Cosmic Cruiser, has turned its sartorial lens on the euphoria of the late 1980s rave scene, a moment in time that became known as the Second Summer Of Love. History has the habit of repeating itself, so we’ve chosen our five favourite pieces to welcome back the parties (and the world as we knew it) in style.

The artist jacquard cardigan

If you think you’ve seen every animal print, think again. Slimane enlisted the help of 14 up-and-coming artists to design the prints for CELINE HOMME’s SS22 collection. Entitled “Brain On 2020”, the illustrations on this cardigan come courtesy of artist Ms Amy Dorian.

The tie-dye t-shirt

CELINE HOMME’s SS22 line-up was filled with bold prints and crystal embellishments, but it wouldn’t be a cosmic raver collection without a bit of tie-dye. Designed with relaxed dropped shoulders, this T-shirt is washed to create a monochromatic swirl effect and printed with the house’s logo in white.

The retro fleece

Fleece track jackets were all the rage during the Second Summer Of Love, and this CELINE HOMME colour-block style is proof of the era’s continued relevance. It’s designed for a relaxed fit and blended with a generous amount of virgin wool, making it the perfect trans-seasonal layer.

The cult high-tops

A cult sneaker wasn’t necessarily what we expected when Hedi Slimane took the helm at CELINE HOMME in 2018. But judging by the popularity of these CT-03 high-tops, it’s safe to say they fly straight to the top of our hype-worthy kicks list. This pair is made from white leather and has a contrasting black Velcro strap.
