Introducing: Shoes Made By Mr P.

14 September 2018

Three versatile styles and what to wear them with.

In all of our years curating and writing about some of the world’s best brands and products, we like to think we’ve picked up a few pearls of wisdom along the way. We don’t want to brag, but a bit of expertise in the area of style and clothes naturally comes with the territory. So it seemed rather logical to us that we used this knowledge to set up our very own in-house brand, Mr P. We did just that last year. A couple of weeks ago, we were proud (and rather surprised, we must admit) to announce the launch of our fifth collection. And if that wasn’t exciting enough, this time we added footwear into our offering.

As we mentioned last week in The Journal, we have enlisted the help of a family-run workshop in Italy to build a shoe range that covers everything from loafers to sneakers to hiking boots. This week, we are happy to announce some new arrivals to our footwear clan. Below, we thought we would mention a few of them, with some ideas on how you might wear them. Scroll down and shop the styles that catch your eye, or browse the full footwear collection here.

The end of summer means some swift rule changes when it comes to clothing, and, where shoes are concerned, you might be less inclined, for example, to slip on some white canvas sneakers if the weather is beginning to deteriorate. So, it might be time to invest in some lovely new leather shoes. Derbies are always a versatile and sturdy companion on city streets. With the polished vegetable-tanned leather, this pair are on the smarter side, so could easily be worn with a suit. The rich brown will go with charcoal tailoring (try to avoid navy with brown shoes). So go for this suit by Hugo Boss, and finish it off with a tie from Parisian brand Husbands.

When the cold weather really hits, you will be glad to have something warm and supportive on your feet. This might feel like a while off, but, invest in these Jacques shearling-lined boots now (with rubber-crepe soles for extra traction), and they’ll be well and truly moulded to your feet come November. Now, though, you can pair them with a nice bomber jacket. If you’re going out in the rain, make sure to spray your suede with a waterproof solution. We swear by Jason Markk.

Black, understated and sturdy, we see this shiny pair of Derbies as a go-to day-to-day shoe – come rain or shine. Set on lug soles for extra support and traction, these are about as reliable as they come. And they’ll pair with pretty much anything in your wardrobe, to boot. If you’re looking for something to wear them with, why not buy completely into the Mr P. brand and go with a sweater made by us and a pair of trousers from our collection, too. We might be biased, but it’s a look that works.
