Just Landed: A Summer Shirt For Any Man

Our edit of the best long- and short-sleeved shirts for the season.

After a scorching bank holiday weekend in London, the heavens have decided to open and we are currently cowering beneath claps of thunder and flashes of lightning. Which means you could forgive us for looking through the latest What’s New items in search of an anorak or some absurd tarpaulin-like covering (Vetements?) to shield us from this rather freakish weather. However, our buyers are not meteorologists, so, unsurprisingly, there are not many things that come under the umbrella (pun intended) of “waterproof materials”. But we live in hope. We are a realistic bunch. And British weather is a fickle old thing. So we have parsed this week’s upload for clothes that represent the weather we want, not the weather we have. And, pleasingly, this week’s What’s New upload contains a lot of summer shirts.

Here is a selection which, we hope, will cater for almost any man. If you like to make a statement, to stop traffic, if you will – there is this bright red, slim linen piece by Barena. If you’d prefer something a little lighter (and breezier) – try this Frescobol Carioca short-sleeve shirt in summery blue and white stripes for size. Want to try something a little more artisanal? We like this mélange-linen-blend piece, also by Barena, which looks pleasingly like it has been made out of an old sack (it hasn’t, we hasten to add, and it doesn’t feel like it has, either). Lastly, for the classic gentleman among us, there is this timeless camp-collar, Ivy-League-inspired linen shirt from French brand Hartford. Something for everyone, then (whatever the weather).
