I am by nature a magpie. I like the new, the shiny, the freshly minted. I could pretend that I thought it was a failing. But I would be lying, because I think it allows me to understand the world better. If you know what is new, you know how things are changing and so can figure out where you stand in society’s tide of trends. This goes for fashion as much as anything else. Here is my choice of new things you’ll find on MR PORTER, all of which are on my Wish List.

As a rule, I don’t wear my heart on my sleeve – I prefer to keep it for my sweatpants. These, in cotton jersey, are by the ice-cool Japanese brand Human Made. Mr Pharrell Williams turned me onto them. They make me very pleased.

As I write this, my friends in New York are freezing, but in our London office, the sun is shining and spring has put an appearance in early. Still, though, the freeze could reappear, so I have bought this Loewe open-knit sweater just in case.

I write about travel for MR PORTER, but I hate flying. I feel less terrified if I plan everything in detail, including my outfit and my luggage. Cav Empt is one of the buzziest brands in the world of streetwear and this brushed twill jacket is the hottest thing it has made. Or so I think. The fastenings are concealed at the front so it has a neat profile. And neat is an underrated virtue.

My face is not my fortune, thankfully. But still, I like to look good. That is why is use this serum, which uses tiny bits of diamond to get deep in the dermis. Basically, it makes me look young and awake when I am tired.
