Puzzled about what presents to give this Christmas? Read our gifting guide to find something for everyone.
Another week, another step closer to Christmas – and another instalment of our festive series, handpicking gift ideas from the all the fresh products that arrive in this week’s What’s New upload. This time, we’re trying to imagine the people you might be buying for, and have selected presents according to three different kinds of men in your life. There’s the extrovert (who’ll love some of the prints that have just come in), the bookish gentleman (who needs some smart new writing equipment, of course) and then there’s the globetrotter (who you can cater for with some sleek travel essentials). Find out more, below.
THE GLOBETROTTER
This is not a travel book like the travel books you stuff into the top of your backpack and whip out on the go to find out where the Old Town in Lisbon is located – it is a travel book to enjoy leisurely, in the comfort of your own home, as you idly research a trip. And when you finally do head off, it might well be for business instead of for pure pleasure. Which means you might need some carefully considered luggage to ensure your suit arrives crinkle-free. Thankfully, Ermenegildo Zegna has just what you need with this stylish garment bag.
THE BOOKISH GENTLEMAN
If the man you are buying for is a little bit bookish: someone who might write a little, or simply fancies himself as a writer type – then these two items are ideal. Assuming he needs glasses (such a man may well be prepared to pretend he needs some specs just to complete the look), he’ll love these Thom Browne titanium frames. But only if he has a square or angular face, mind – circular frames work best on said face shapes. All he needs to complete learned look is this writing folder, which he can use to carry that new script around in – or just receipts, bills and other scraps of paper if he’s still pretending.
THE EXTROVERT
If you need to get something for a fashion-forward gentleman, one who won’t shy away from a (very) loud print or two, one of these pieces might do the trick. If you’re in any doubt as to which he’ll prefer, maybe go safe(r) with the slightly more subdued Neil Barrett T-shirt. Or, just go a bit wild with this Alexander McQueen paisley print camp-collar shirt. Whatever happens, it’s highly unlikely anyone else will have got him anything even vaguely similar. So you’ll be remembered at the very least.
