Three Sweaters To Wear This Winter

How to keep cosy in style this season.

Now that any prospect of festive dressing is safely behind us (at least for another 11 months), allow us to draw your attention to a selection of sweaters that, though mercifully absent of jingling bells and flashing lights, herald no less jollity, at least in the style stakes. The sweaters currently on offer from a spectrum of designers are muted, measured, and will see you through from work to weekend.

Of course, with great choice comes great indecision, and while we believe a man can never have too many sweaters in his wardrobe, the three below represent a cross section of sweater diversity that should make it easier to find the one for you. Scroll down for some tips on what to wear them with.

Club Monaco is known for its modern take on the classics, and makes reliable and versatile clothes that are easy to style – take this neat blue melange sweater, the colour of which will flatter almost anything, but will work particularly well as a go-to when you need something casual-but-considered to wear. If being on trend is your thing, try teaming it with this midnight blue corduroy jacket from Parisian brand A.P.C. Its blouson fit will frame the sweater nicely, and will provide a welcome layer when it’s chilly.

While Vetements and Tommy Hilfiger may not have seemed the likeliest of bedfellows, we have to admit that their sweater collaboration paints the pairing in a rather charming light. This hoodie is part of the team up – it has layered sleeves that hark back to the 1990s, as does its oversized silhouette. You’ll want something with a slight edge to pair with it– try these panelled jeans, also from Vetements and created from repurposed Levi’s, for an all-black look that’s suitably streetwise.

Cashmere, as opposed to cotton or wool, generally demands a spike in price, but one we think is justified once you take into account the payoff in terms of longevity and elegance. This pastel one from Prada is slim-fitting, smart and soft, and will be a welcome addition to any wardrobe in need of a little TLC. Layer it over a white shirt to ramp up the formality, or team it with some grey trousers, such as this refined pair from Maison Margiela, which will balance well with the subtle washed-out pink of the cashmere.
