THE JOURNAL

Three key pieces from this progressive menswear brand – including the jacket, sweater and T-shirt you need now.
There’s nothing in the style world quite like OAMC, the brand launched in 2013 by Mr Luke Meier (formerly of Supreme) and Mr Arnaud Faeh (formerly of Carhartt). Why? Because it sits in its own comfortable niche, somewhere between streetwear (from which it borrows its graphic cues and penchant for prints) and the kind of sharp, contemporary everyday style you’d associate with brands like Ami, or Officine Generale, with which it shares a certain affinity for sharp minimalism and understatement. What this translates to each season is truly wide-ranging collections, incorporating technical outerwear, reconfigured tailoring, bold panelling and slick printed T-shirts. In fact, the latest instalment of the AW16 collection has just uploaded, so we thought it appropriate to walk you through a few of our favourite pieces, and how to wear them.
THE MODERNIST SWEATER
The punchy colour-blocking on the above knit sweater brings to mind the work of modernist greats such as the architect Le Corbusier the painter Mr Piet Mondrian. But thankfully it’s a little bit more handy for everyday situations than the former’s monolithic buildings or the latter’s giant, priceless canvases. Yes, in fact, this is the kind of thing that’s perfect for slinging on at the weekend under a simple cotton field jacket or overshirt. By the time we reach December, it may even be considered a little bit “festive”, too.
THE SMART BOMBER
A good bomber jacket has long been a streetwear essential. But latterly, as is the general trend in the style world, it’s also become a cornerstone of the man-about-town’s everyday wardrobe. This particular example is a little more sophisticated than your average, thanks to its asymmetric zip fastening and light, technical shell fabric. But that doesn’t mean you can’t wear it with a graphic beanie hat like this example when the weather takes a turn for the worse.
THE IN-FLIGHT T-SHIRT
In case you hadn’t noticed, animals are very much on the style agenda at the moment, whether it’s the buzzing bees and roaring lions that appear on the creations of Gucci’s Mr Alessandro Michele, or the giant cobras hissing on the front of sweaters and scarves currently on offer from Givenchy. The above monochrome T-shirt, however, featuring a simple motif of a soaring hawk, represents a more subtle take on this wild tendency. Wear it with a pair of jeans and some box-fresh Common Projects and consider your wings well and truly spread.
