The Instagram gardener you need on your feed.
We don’t know about you, but the MR PORTER team have become somewhat fed up with all those travel-y Instagram accounts. While half of us are waiting painfully for our two weeks of freedom to come around, regularly checking MR PORTER for articles on where to go and what to pack, the other half have already been on their summer adventures and can’t bear to look at everyone else’s #travelgrams. Sound familiar? We thought it might. That’s why this week the Instagram account we’d like to introduce you to – and the account we’re currently fixated with – is that of @haarkon_. Bursting with greenery (and predominantly focused on foliage found indoors) Mr Magnus Edmondson and Ms India Hobson’s feed is certain to provide you with a refreshing dose of inspiration without the slightest whiff of those infernal hot-dog legs.
WHO?
Mr Edmondson and Ms Hobson live Sheffield, South Yorkshire, and work together on photography, art direction and styling. They started @haarkon_ as “a way of working together and to find a way to get the right work/life balance”.
WHAT?
Mr Edmondson and Ms Hobson have combined their “interests of horticulture, architecture, design and travel” to create a fascinating feed of plants and greenhouses.
WHERE?
Based in Sheffield, the duo recommend “jumping in the car and heading to the Peak District” for some of the best places to take photos in the area, because “there’s an Instagram moment in every direction”.
WHY?
Before @haarkon_ was created, Mr Edmondson and Ms Hobson would print all their photos and keep them in albums on their bookcase. They started their Instagram account as a way of recording their travels “for others to find inspiration and to bring nature into their lives”.
HOW?
Their favourite editing equipment is “a cloudy day and light room. Boring but true.” And their top photography tip? “Photograph what genuinely interests you. Your passion will shine through in the quality of your images.”
