Well known for their delicious Skillet’s; our favourite is the Taco Skillet complete with chorizo, pico de gallo, refried beans and queso fresco.
The name’s not an appropriated nostalgic throwback – this all-day joint in the Catskill Forest Preserve is very recognisably a diner. There’s a long counter with button stools, plenty of booths and acres of chrome. There are paper placemat menus with waffles, Caesar salad, turkey meatloaf and eggs every way. But Phoenicia’s different from the thousands of other roadside diners – it was reopened after a sympathetic renovation a few years ago and brings a strong focus on quality ingredients from the Hudson Valley and integration with the year round community.
