I love Rubaiyat in Sao Paulo and when they opened in Rio it was a great excuse to get stuck in to a classic Brazilian churrascaria. They have incredible cuts of beef, and, if you are vegetarian, the salad bar is not to be believed. It’s a whole meal on it’s own. The whole reason to go here, though, isn’t really the food, it’s the location and view. Set inside the Rio de Janeiro Jockey Club (trackside), you have an incredible view down the home stretch and up at the Corcovado across to the Pão de Açúcar. Day or night, you have to ask for a table outside.
Located in between Rio’s Botanic Gardens and Jockey Club, pick the right day and you can watch the races while you eat. Its pão de queijo (baked cheese roll) and steaks are among the best you’ll taste in the city.
