Katz's Delicatessen – half pastrami sandwich, half matzo ball soup.
New York City’s oldest deli, founded in 1888 at 205 East Houston Street, is a perfect chaos of rattling plates and hungry people. Its colossal pastrami sandwiches are the stuff of legend, as is its cameo appearance in When Harry Met Sally (yes, that scene was filmed here). But be warned – they don’t mess about. You’re handed a numbered service ticket when you enter and if you lose it, they add $50 to your bill.
