A good coat is one of those things that you don’t know how much you need until you really know how much you need it. Far too many times we’ve made it through December in our autumn jackets spruced up with a few well-chosen layers, then January hits and suddenly we remember what proper cold feels like.
Or, at the other end, thinking ahead and investing in a super-insulated winter coat, only to be taken by surprise when temperatures edge above freezing and we find ourselves slowly melting on the Tube in our own personal feather-filled sauna. But, don’t despair, there is still time to add to your outwear arsenal – and if you pick wisely, you can even find something that will stick with you right into spring.

Moncler Genius is the Italian outerwear giant’s ongoing collaborative project, in which it invites contemporary designers to reimagine classic skiwear through their own unique vision.
