It's a great hotel in a brilliant part of the city. The last time I stayed, The Big Lebowski was playing on repeat in the halls, which I thought was a brilliant touch.
Ladders, disco balls, elevated beds and a giant plywood wendy house: the Michelberger is a veritable urban playground. This treasure in Berlin’s hipster neighbourhood of Friedrichshain has a themed room for everyone, from the bookish (where glued-on paperbacks line the walls) to the downright voyeuristic (watch your spouse take a shower from the comfort of your bed). For the sociable, a grown-up take on hostel-style communal areas indulges those keen to relive their well-spent youths.
