The Last Shadow Puppets Do Powder-Blue Chinos

“Miracle Aligner” by The Last Shadow Puppets

Messrs Alex Turner and Miles Kane both know how to nail an outfit: the former has long been a fan of the 1950s, quiffs, braces and all; the latter rose to fame as a modern mod, with a choppy Mr Paul Weller-esque do and slim-cut tailoring. When they come together for nostalgic pop project The Last Shadow Puppets, however, it seems that they step out of their respective sartorial comfort zones, and into pastures unknown. In the press shots for new album Everything You’ve Come To Expect, they channelled the current vogue for all things 1970s and sported shiny, zip-up tracksuits. In the first video from the record, however, they’ve take a different tack – one which we rather like. Against a backdrop of Italianate architecture and a dingy, stuccoed ballroom, the video for “Miracle Aligner” shows Messrs Turner and Kane take on a particularly summery, pastel palette that wouldn’t look a million miles out of place on the streets of Florence during Pitti Uomo (if Pitti Uomo was, one year, given a dress code of “retro lounge singer”). Watch the video below to see how they do it, and if you feel like following in their natty footsteps, scroll down to find out how to make the look work for you.
