Five Cosy Cardigans For When You Don’t Want to Wear A Coat Anymore
Words by Ms Lili Göksenin
2 May 2022

Feeling a bit chilly and yet too warm for a coat? Tug on one of this season’s best cardigans. You don’t need us to tell you, once again, that they’re a perfect transitional layer – and yet here we are doing just that. Indulge us, like you might a be-cardiganed grandpa, as we repeat ourselves. Below, our favourite cosy cardigans for the weirdest weather of the season (and how to style them).

01.
The fuzzy patchwork LOEWE cardigan
Here’s a fluffy number to keep you going. The alpaca and wool-blend checkerboard from LOEWE can and should be the loudest thing you wear on any particular day. We recommend pairing it with simple, clean white jeans from Jacquemus and slip-on clogs from Yuketen. This might be the easiest outfit we’ve ever put together.

02.
The green shawl-collar Alanui cardie
The shawl collar brings to mind cigar rooms and roaring fireplaces. But Alanui has embellished this look with bandana patchwork and a clover-green colourway. It’s fabricated in a cashmere and linen blend, which means it will keep you warm, but not too warm. Pair with blue jeans and white sneaks for a clean (but not too clean) look.

03.
The logo organic cotton and wool-blend AMI PARIS piece

04.
The ultra-luxe Elder Statesman knit
The Elder Statesman has spent the past few years practically redefining the meaning of luxury knits. This shawl-collar, striped knit is beautiful and yet extremely low-key, so it would look right worn with shorts and a tank. This is a look calling out for a stroll along a Malibu beach.

05.
The preppy Rubinacci cashmere cardigan
Italian brand Rubinacci has created, here, the platonic ideal of a cardigan. Simple, unadorned, made from cashmere – it’s just the piece to keep in your closet for days when you need a little extra warmth from a sweater that you know will look sharp. Classic loafers maintain the collegiate appeal of this one while denim trousers loosen up the look.
