Brunello Cucinelli’s Exclusive MR PORTER Collection Is Your One-Stop Winter Wardrobe

Elegance is a difficult word to truly define. It’s often replaced with other words – graceful, chic, stylish – but somehow it’s much more than all of those things. Most people probably have their own idea of what makes something elegant, but there are some key principles that we can all agree on: it isn’t brash, or loud or showy. It’s about poise and understatement. Even if it isn’t easy to put a finger on, there is one brand that knows exactly what it looks like: Brunello Cucinelli.

It’s fitting, then, the Italian label has now created an exclusive collection for MR PORTER that’s titled Unexpected Elegance. It includes a host of autumnal variations on classic Brunello Cucinelli pieces, each packed with the brand’s signature approach. There are leather jackets and baby alpaca sweaters, cargo pants and French collar shirts, walking boots and suede wallets. The wide-ranging collection contains everything you could need, meaning that you can take this “unexpected elegance” with you wherever you go and whatever you do.

Brunello Cucinelli’s understanding of elegance goes back almost 45 years, when the label’s founder began crafting luxurious cashmere pieces in the town of Solomeo, high up in the Umbrian mountains. Since then, the brand has become known the world over for its focus on craftsmanship, quality and understated design. Cucinelli’s approach to elegance extends beyond its collections and includes a reverence for tradition and the arts, all forming part of the label’s celebration of beauty in all its forms. It’s a lifestyle brand, in the truest sense. This same ethos is used across the Unexpected Elegance collection, highlighting the luxurious materials used and the care that’s gone into each item.

The collection also nods to some of the brand’s other calling cards. The colour palette – a sophisticated mix of camel, eggshell, navy and taupe – is classic Cucinelli, while the materials used, most spectacularly on the 100 per cent cashmere take on a tennis sweater or the baby alpaca Caban coat, will also be familiar to any fans of the brand. The collection doesn’t have any bells and whistles, it’s just beautifully designed and beautifully made versions of classic silhouettes. That’s the Cucinelli way.

What’s more, it’s one of our most comprehensive capsules to date, offering a full wardrobe for the transition into winter. A lot of the standout pieces are ideal for the creeping colder days and longer nights, with a blue down jacket and a carded knit turtleneck perfect for keeping you warm. As well as winter-ready outerwear, there are everyday staples – including a light denim shirt with snap buttons, plain jersey tees in short or long sleeves and loose-fit jeans – plus footwear in suede, nubuck and calfskin, and accessories ranging from cold-weather beanies to weekend away-ready holdalls. In other words, whatever you’re planning this autumn and winter, this exclusive Brunello Cucinelli collection has you covered.
